Monday started off gray and with brief showers.

We went to the Discovery Center in Gros Morne to hike the Lookout Trail. It was 4 miles with an elevation gain of 1500 ft. It was a WOW trail. The sun played hide and seek for most of the day. The wind was unrelenting and pushed us around a few times, which made the hike even more fun.

We returned to our campground where the Stanleyville trail begins. It was a 3 mile hike, with a 700 ft elevation gain. This trail led us to a small cove.

Sunset gave us a short burst of color and I mean short.

Day 12

Time to pack up camp and move to Port Saunders for the night. The campsite across from us was vacant overnight and I was able to use that site to take my coffee with a view photo. The sunrise was unreal, even from our campsite.

We left around 9 a.m. and our first stop was another storytelling station. This station was across from our campground.

We drove up to Port au Choix to return to the lighthouse where we spotted caribou last year. Last year we didn’t have time to hike the trail at the lighthouse. This year we knew we would return to hike it, in hopes of seeing more caribou out on the expanse of land. It was a 3 mile out and back hike. We didn’t spot caribou but we did spot the evidence of them being there.

We hung around the lighthouse for a bit and we discovered one of the caribou herds.

We still had time to kill before we could get in our rental, which meant go visit the local grocery store and find another trail to hike. We stopped at Phillip’s Garden trail to hike 1/2 mile.

Finally we could go to the rental in Port Saunders. It is the cutest little rental right on the water. I regret not booking this place for 2 nights. I would love to spend a day on the deck, reading and watching boats chug by.

Tomorrow we leave for another campground of the tip of the western arm. This means we are without consistent wifi until next Monday.
