Coral in the Forest?

We’ve snorkeled the Turks & Caicos, St. Lucia, Grand Cayman, Little Cayman and all over Staniel Cay, Exumas and have seen many different types of sea coral.  We never in our wildest dreams thought we would discover coral in the forest.

It can be found on very decayed logs on the forest floor.  Some sites reference it as an edible fungus, but once again I wouldn’t indulge my taste buds to see if I agree with these sites.  The coral can come in many different colors. So far in the Connecticut woods we’ve only discovered shades of white and off yellow. Maybe on one of our hikes we will find the orange coral.
