Artist Fungi – Create Some Art

Just like my beloved turkey tail fungi, this is a shelf fungus.  My niece, Sarah first introduced us to the magic of this fungus. You can draw or write on the underneath of this mushroom and it will scar it into the mushroom, creating a picture.

We have yet to do this and then return to find our creation. Maybe on one of our spring hikes, we know that we are going to repeat, we may attempt this. Just need to remember to lock the location on our GPS.

It is also called the Artist’s Conk.
