A beautiful moody weather morning began with a breakfast made with all local ingredients.

Our first hike of the day was Cobbler Loop, it’s part of the Iceberg Trail.

Our second and third hike was Little Brehat and Flat Point Trail. After the hike, a local retired gent came over from his garden to chat.

Lunch was back at Dark Tickle, because we loved it that much.

It was an early return to the rental to just hang out.

Day 15

We said goodbye to the rental house that changed our itinerary because we fell in love with this area and wanted more time here. Mother Nature gave us a lovely goodbye from this side of the peninsula. Our next move was to the peninsula across the bay

We stopped to see the Leif statue before we headed to L’Anse Aux Meadows to explore this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here lies the first known evidence of European presence in the Americas. Vikings came here 1,000 years ago. At this site there is also a hiking trail, Birchy Nuddick. The trail included hobbit huts or fairy houses, take your pick what you want to call them.

After this excursion, it was on to hike Camel’s Back. We even spotted a whale way off in the distance.

Our final hike of the day was Pumley Cove.

We checked in at St. Brendan’s Hotel, nothing to rave about. We finished the evening at The Daily Catch restaurant. We both tried iceberg beer, it was decent.

Day 16

On the move to Ships Cove, it is directly across the bay from where we stayed the last three nights.

Our first hike was Cartreau Point Trail

The second hike of the day was St. Anthony Bight.

In between the hikes, there was lunch and grocery shopping. Finally we could check in at our next rental. We hung out on the porch, had appetizers and went for a stroll in the neighborhood that included a beach walk.

Tomorrow is full of hikes very close to us. Sadly we only have two nights here, I wish we could stay longer.
