This morning we had coffee with three loons. There seemed to be a wooing of the lady by two male loons. The lake was so peaceful we could hear the flutter of their wings, when they would take off, each male trying to show up the other one.

We began our day early and was on St. Vincent’s beach by 9:30 a.m. There was a small group of people looking for the whales. About a week ago, the whales came in so close to the shore you didn’t need to zoom in to see details. Today only one whale that you needed a zoom lens to capture it. My iphone didn’t have the power to catch them in action. This photos are all credit to Mike.

After that we drove to Cape Race Lighthouse. The history of the lighthouse is fascinating. This was 45 minutes down the road from the St. Vincent’s and the weather had completely changed. A lighthouse shrouded in fog is the beginning of a good love story.

On our way back we stopped at Mistaken Point Unesco World Heritage Site. We did two short trails here, the Freshwater Trail and the Rookery Trail. I may have said lots of swears out of pure joy and I even cried a bit because of the beauty of both trails. I knew nothing about them and was blown away.

It was an eight hour day of adventure and driving, lots of driving.
Sunset was once again very lovely.

Tomorrow we move to a campsite for two nights and hopefully see puffins on our way to it.
