Day 21 – Fireworks

It only seemed appropriate to end our last night here with fireworks, as it was our anniversary. Really there were fireworks from the beach.

The morning was really rainy, downpours in fact. We thought it would be a stay indoors kind of day. At 10:45 the rain stopped, fog pushed out and we saw blue skies. We sprung into action, putting all our hiking essentials together and were in the car by 11.

Mike decided we should hike in the town of Cupids. You understand being our 35th wedding anniversary and all. We did a 2 mile loop hike on the Burnt Head Hiking Trail. AllTrails time has it as 60 minutes, which means tack on another 30 mins. because we stop so often.

This hike we also met a local, who told us about the crab industry, pointed out fresh moose beds and let us know where the fox families’ den is located. We also talked politics and yes we did apologize again.

The trail was dotted with information signs which were delightful. We did see a minke whale (no pictures).

It was midafternoon by the time we finished the hike, so we skipped the next hike and went in search of food. Along the way we made a few stops.

Our lunch spot was at Baccalieu Trail Brewing Company in Bay Roberts. The beer was true to the style of beer.

It was time to return to the rental and start the moving process. However we had to sit outside a bit and enjoy the sunshine. Later on in early evening the clouds were very active, creating some drama.

At 10 p.m. the fireworks from the beach started and they were some of the best I have even seen. Maybe the location helped.

Tomorrow (Tuesday)we move to a new spot. We were supposed to be camping for two nights, but the forecast for these days (we watched all weekend the forecasts) predicted lots of rain while camping. We decided to rent a house on the Irish Loop, I wanted to see but didn’t get to in this area.

Now though the forecast calls for light rain today and a gorgeous days following. These things happen and we still have a great location to see some other sights.
