The Last Days

Day 36 – July 22nd

We had an end destination today, Cape St. George.

Our first stop was at Our Lady of Mercy Heritage Church. It is the largest wooden structure in NL and Labrador. The Catholic Church sold it and the towns people raised money to purchase it, to preserve it. It is a magnificent structure.

We continued on to Cape St. George and hiked the 2 mile trail of La Marches Des Miettes, wonderful views.

We had lunch in Stephenville at the Wild Strawberry Cafe, it was delicious.

We thought about extending our stay, as we really didn’t give enough time for the West Coast and arm of NL. However the logistics just didn’t work out. We had a great view trying to make it work though, back at the rental.

Day 37 – July 23

Today we drove to Lark Harbour and hiked Bottle Cove. This had all the views of mixing Kauai and Scotland together.

Our next stop was to Coppermine Falls, a mere .43 mile walk.

This drive was absolutely breathtaking and we stopped along the way to snap a few photos.

Once back at the rental, Mike decided to check the ferry schedule to discover we could get on the 11:45 a.m. ferry instead of 11:45 p.m. ferry the next day. We scrambled to pack up, clean up and make hotel reservations for the drive home.

Day 38 – July 24

Up and out of the rental. Once last look at the view from the rental. We landed in Nova Scotia and disembarked around 6:30 p.m., drove three hours to Truro for the night.

Day 39 – July 25

We drove from Truro, NS to Bangor, ME via the Fundy Parkway. At the beginning of the trip we drove this parkway but it was hidden in fog. We hoped to have a fog free drive. Guess what? We didn’t, the fog wasn’t as heavy but it was still there. I talked with a ranger, she informed this has been the foggiest summer they have experienced. Guess we need to return and try again?

In Bangor we had dinner at Mason Brewing and called it an early night.
