The weather started off cloudy, with choppy seas. We made the plan to go down and across the island to visit a very little known waterfall, Twa Basens.
It is a series of three pools on a shallow river. The book we use, had the first pool as easy to access. Agreed with that it was and a 5 minute walk from the road to get to it. To get to the other two the book tells you to go to the left hand side of the stream and climb if you wish to go up to see the others. It states “It is slippery but not to high”. I knew I wouldn’t be doing it when Mike had to sit down to make it down to the first pool, after trying to find an easy way to make it to the upper pools.
I swear guide books should come with a recommended height to do certain hikes or exploring.
On our way to that fall we saw a sign that had a beautiful painting on Morgan Falls. We couldn’t find any mention on it online. We parked by the sign and headed up the stream to see it.
Did you notice the trail didn’t look like the sign? The sign was just completed in February 2024. Maybe its a future project to make the little short hike like the sign? Again if Mike has to crab walk down, I am not going up.
So it was two very short walks in streams to see a pool and a bigger waterfall. Maybe it wasn’t false advertising, maybe our expectations are to high?
